Josie and I met together bi-weekly, and she has shown a commendable commitment to exploring the functions and behaviors expected of a senior designer, particularly in areas like effective communication with engineering teams, goal setting through OKRs, and strategic sharing in one-on-one meetings with her manager. She actively engages in learning, applies discussed concepts diligently, and thoughtfully reflects on her experiences when she comes back to me.

Josie made a very positive first impression with me, after some company restructuring she was being pulled in multiple directions; one of which was the Product Designer on my team. She jumped right in to in-progress work without skipping a beat and provided immediate value like she’d always been part of the team. We soon had some good momentum going and time to handle a less critical project that needed minimal updates – a “just get it done quickly” scenario. This is when I learned Josie has an “extra gear”. Much quicker than expected, she had designs for the core work, but had also noticed a number of additional things that could be vastly improved with minimal effort, and had the designs for them ready too!

I highly recommend Josie. She’s talented at everything, funny and great to work with. A star employee and life of any team. She is a fast learner and dedicated. She often volunteered to help all kinds of teams that needed it and managed her time wisely. She was an early adopter of advanced Figma techniques and is really skilled with any software or process I saw her use. Early in her career she was teaching tools and processes to much more experienced designers. We both worked under the same PM and shared our work often, I got to see her process, and she is really skilled and cares about her work. She is definitely someone you want on your team!

She always brought brilliant solutions to the table and is highly proficient in Figma. Her excitement and positivity will most definitely rub off on you. Her design decisions are backed up by user testing and research and she always tries to understand the user and their problems before coming up with possible solutions. I would highly recommend her to anyone that is searching not only for a great designer, but also for a great team player.

Josie is a very capable designer and we are lucky to have her on our team. She is always positive and doesn’t get frustrated even when the requirements are changed constantly. She is creative and innovative when creating new designs and comes up with multiple ideas to get feedback and feasibility of each idea. Josie is also very efficient with her time and effort, juggling multiple teams and initiatives, she prioritizes tasks in a way that I have never have to ask her twice for work on a design or clarification on an existing one. I’m amazed at how much she gets done and at such a high level of quality.

Josie makes what can become a very tedious back and forth to make code match a design seamless. I never feel like I am waiting on her. On top of all that, she is very willing to adjust her work to be flexible when design decisions get complicated on the developer side.

Not only is Josie a deep thinker and a go-getter, but she’s also the kind of person that cares about the people she works with. She’s the type of teammate that you want to have around. She’s upbeat, humble, and is unafraid to ask questions or consider others’ suggestions. Josie lifts up the team with her quality of work as well as with her ability to help people feel valued.
